Doctor, doctor give me the news

Phil had a successful shoulder surgery on January 12th. He had to stay in recovery a couple extra hours because he lost a lot of blood during surgery (500cc!) and was very pale with low O2 levels.  He also had a mild facial droop from the nerve block, which resolved by the time we left.

Unfortunately his nerve block got clogged and he did not receive any pain meds for the first 15 hrs or so after surgery when we finally realized it wasn't working.  He is recovering fine now and started physical therapy today.   He can even shower and dress himself now, so I'm very happy about that!

Thanks to both sets of parents for all of the help.  This has been very stressful to say the least.  Although we've only been in TX a few weeks, we already have a great support network and have had so many people bringing food and helping me watch the boys so I can get Phil to his many appointments.  He will be able to drive again after he weans off his pain meds, hopefully in the next week or so.

Trey and Charlie also had visits with their new pediatrician!  At Trey's 5 year old checkup, he was in the 78th percentile for height and 60th for weight.  They predicted his full grown height to be 6'3."  We are currently getting Trey on the list for testing through Frisco ISD.  Hopefully he will qualify for free speech and OT.  He is improving a lot in both so I am hopeful he will be caught up to peers by kindergarten next fall.  I think he might have a touch of ADD, but we will see what his teachers think on down the road.  In the meantime, I am over the moon with his new preschool!  He LOVES it!  He comes home beaming everyday and tells me all about how much fun he had in preschool.  Such a 180 from his experience last year!  He remains such a sweet and affectionate guy.  He loves and cares for all people and animals and will always help others. I am so proud of his kindness and hope he always remains this sweet and silly.

Charlie had his 3 year chceckup and he is a beast!  100th percentile for height and weight... and weighed .5 lb more than Trey! I have no concerns with his development, just his listening skills!!  He is improving.... slowly.  I am not one to wish time away, but I am looking forward to sending him to preschool next year!  I think he will thrive with the structure and improve his socialization!  In the meantime, he keeps me on my toes and laughing.  He's a handful, but he's funny! I love his spunky and charismatic personality.

Beau-bird is almost 6 months old and will be having his checkup in 10 days!  Will update stats at that time, but have a feeling he is a pretty big dude, too (Have you seen his thighs?!)!  He is still not rolling, but he is sitting up and grabbing everything in sight!  He is also starting with the seperation anxiety and cries every time I walk away from him.  He is STILL not sleeping through the night, although we have weaned off nightly nursing sessions!  He wakes frequently but goes right back to bed with his paci... I only wish I didn't have to go up and down the stairs 6 times a night... Beau started eating solids at the beginning of January and is LOVING his meal time!  Happiest little bird I ever saw!  Just opens and waits for the spoon and then flashes a big smile and opens again!

Here are some pics of the past few weeks!

Tonight we head tonPhil's company work party!  First time with our new sitter-  wish her luck!!
