Week 1

Our baby is (almost) 1 week old!! He is seriously the best baby I have ever seen.  He is so sweet and such a great sleeper!!  I have gotten about 1000x more sleep with my newborn than during the vast majority of pregnancy.  Last night, for example, he ate at 8 and fell asleep until 1:30am, immediately fell back asleep and slept until 5:30, ate and fell back asleep until 9:30!  Amazing!  It is not a fluke-  he does similar patterns every night!

When he is awake, he is very content.  He only cries when he is hungry and/or during his sponge bath.  Not a fan of those...

Mom and I took Beau to the pediatrician on Monday for a weight check.  He was 8 lb 1 oz when discharged from the hospital on Saturday and had already gained back 2 oz. by his Monday morning appointment!  Kid likes to eat!

With the exception of a sticker to his hair,  big brothers have been great with him, too.  They have been surprisingly gentle and loving.  They love to kiss his cheek, rub his head and give him toys when he is swinging.  Charlie has yet to hold him, but Trey loves it!

Upon first meeting, baby Beau gave his brothers a little present... Superhero costumes!  Trey LOVES batman and Charlie LOVES superman!  They were very excited about their new costumes.  Trey even wore his to Publix with Grandmom and Grandad.  Apparently, it was a big hit with the customers/cashiers and, of course, he ate up all of the attention.  :)

We have yet to get our first "family of 5" picture, but hope to get one sometime this week!

Homeward bound!

We actually were very surprised today when my doctor cleared me to go home! Initially he had said Sunday or Monday, but was very pleased with my recovery on day 2-3 so he gave us the option, which we gladly accepted!

The boys don't get in from KY until tomorrow, so Phil and I had a quiet afternoon with Beau in his new pad.

Here are a few pics from the past couple of days...

Beau spends 99.9% of his day sleeping, so it wasn't until today that we were able to see his eye color!  They are navy blue- like Trey's as an infant.  I'll be interested to see if they stay blue or change dark brown like Charlies.

Beau Henry

Phil and I welcomed another healthy little guy to our family yesterday at 12:17 pm!  Beau Henry weighed in and 8lbs, 9 oz. and 20.5 inches long.  I was told he has a very large head, so it's a good thing I had a scheduled c!

Although surgery itself went great, I had a few minor issues post-op that have caused some discomfort-  very low BP resulting in significant dizziness and big bout of nausea and vomitting, which was extremely painful with my abdominal incsision.  I also had some air that got trapped in my back during surgery which has turned into severe gas pain in my back and shoulder area.   It doesn't sound bad, but at the present, it hurts way more than my more obvious injury....

Beau is a really chill baby.  He pretty much slept all day, so thankfully I was able to rest and am feeling better, with just the normal post op pain.  I did get up and walk to the bathroom with my nurse without fainting, so that is better than with my other two!

He is also a big fan of eating!  Within minutes of delivery he had latched and eaten a four-course meal!  I still can't believe he nursed so easily and quickly!

He is currently getting a bath in the nursery, so I should probably rest while I can.... More updates soon!  Thanks for the well wishes!

Bump date

This Thursday is baby boy's eviction day and I could not be more ready.  This week has been really rough!  I have been having bad back pain, inconsistent (but strong) contractions and have zero energy.  My kids, on the other hand, have plenty of energy and have been literally jumping off of the walls/going crazy at home.  I have officially lost all control over them.

Not only have I lost control, but we've hit a little string of bad luck-  Treyman got stung by a bee.  Not once, but twice!  First on his arm, and a few days later on his face.  Both times he swelled up like the little girl on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  He also busted his lip open at the playground.  He looked bad....

And then there's Charlie...

The owners of Phil's hotel were in town yesterday, which meant that I would not get to see my husband until 11 pm... So, I thought I would skip cooking duties and treat the boys to a fun dinner at Chick-fil-a. Seconds after getting the food, Charlie says "my tummy hurts," and immediately starts throwing up everywhere-  All over the table/our food, inside my purse, down my leg... It was disgusting.  Thankfully he seems totally fine today, so I'm hoping it was just a fluke and not a stomach bug that will surely be passed on to everyone....

Anyways, back to the bump date:

As of my Dr. Appt today, I am 2 cm dilated, 50% effaced.... In very early stages of labor... In general, I am just feeling very hot and very uncomfortable.  According to the scale, I am also up 44 lbs!  Yikes!  No wonder I am uncomfortable.  I gained 28 lbs with Trey and 34 with Charlie.  Looks like mama will have some work to do post baby...

A couple of weeks ago, I had a high protien reading in my urine, which is a sign of preeclampsia.  They monitored me for a few days but everything else was normal (blood pressure, no swelling, etc), so, thankfully, I did not have to go in for fetal stress testing and/or early induction.  All looked good today so my doctors are not worried.  Hopefully this little man will be completely healthy like his brothers were.

My parents are picking up the big brothers tomorrow and taking them to KY for a long weekend.  Maybe then I will find the time to pack my hospital bag?!  I should really get on that soon...

We have had some fun over the pat couple of weeks- the boys enjoyed their first movie theater experience (Finding Dory):

And some play time at the splash pad and park:

And they enjoyed testing out all of the baby swings and gliders:

Anyways, looks like this is my last bump date ever!!!  Phil took care of business, which means no more babies for us!  Trying hard to enjoy these last few days of pregnancy, but mostly just OVER it!
