All about Charles- 9 months

Sweet Charlie is growing up so fast!  I haven't done an update on him in awhile (2nd child...), but here it is!

Stats:  No formal stats since we have skipped his 9 month dr visit.  I knew it would be too chaotic to figure out with the move, so I had his Florida pediatrician get him up to date on all shots til his 1st bday right before we left.  However, according to our home scale, this chunkster weighs 22 lb, 2 oz. and is wearing 18-24 month clothes.  :)

Eating:  this may be Charlie's favorite past time.  He "Yums" and squeals the entire meal.  Charlie is eating 99% table foods, and supplementing with purée veggie pouches every now and then. He's been eating "real food" since the end of July when he literally started grabbing good out of my hand.  Charlie didn't have any teeth until 3 weeks ago, but that never stopped him - he could gum ANYTHING!  This boy has eaten quesidillas, burgers, pizza.  You name it, he's eaten it!  He's a good veggie and fruit eater, but can be very fickle.  One day he loves it and the next he's throwing it off his tray table.  He has recently learned how to suck water through a straw and is quite pleased with himself every time he does it.  Lots of clapping and cheesing to his adoring audience.  :)

Milk-wise this guy is still enjoying plenty of mom's milk; however, nursing has become a lot less enjoyable now that he has teeth... Trying my best to make it at least a year, but it's not easy!

Schedule:  this guy is like clockwork.  Wakes up at 6:30, drinks milk at 6:30, 9:30, 1:30, 4:00, and 7, eats solids at 7:30, 10:30, 12, 3:30, 5:30 and takes 2 naps.

Sleep:  Charlie takes a morning nap from 9:30-10:30 and afternoon nap from 1:30-3 and is down for the night around 7. Up until about 8 months Charlie was NOT sleeping through the night.  It was exhausting!  So glad the "sleep training" worked and he now can put himself back to sleep if and when he wakes up in the middle of the night!   Trey slept through the night at 6 weeks, so I never fully understood the whole "new parent" exhaustion.  Now, I totally get it!

Motor skills:  Sir Charles is into everything.  He started "army crawling" at the end of June and has taken off since.  He crawls, goes from any position to standing and has started to cruise/walk along furniture.  He can even climb stairs... I may or may not have caught him standing on step #3 the other day (hence the newly placed baby gate).

And he is faaaast. Honestly, too fast for comfort. It is not long before this guy is totally mobile. He opens cabinets, drawers and is infatuated with outlets and anything that moves. Hello, baby-proofing. Charlie is into waving and giving everyone high fives.  Charlie has the pincher grasp down, especially if it means picking up food!

Speech/language development:  this is one vocal baby.  He is constantly making noise.  And, this guy can scream.  It's rather shrill.  And he does it: when he's happy, when he's excited, when he sees a new toy, or a new person, or something moving 600 yards in the distance.  You get my point.

He uses some sign- mainly "more" and "all done."  I haven't really taught him any others, so I really don't anticipate him using any others in the immediate future.
