The big 3-0

It happened. I'm officially out of my 20's. I'm another year older and maybe a little wiser.

I was welcomed into my 30's with a wonderful surprise-- Phil flew in two of my best friends to spend the weekend with me! Such a nice, thoughtful gift from the hubs and a perfect way to spend a long holiday weekend.

We enjoyed a few dinners out, a massage (thanks, Tad and Avery!), a pool party, and some child-less r&r at the beach. What more could a girl want??

18 month updates

Today, is Trey's half birthday!!!  He is well on his way to two!

Stats: height- 34 inches (75th percentile), weight- 23lbs 0oz. (25th percentile) and head circumstance is up to 55th percentile! Wo hooo!

Play:  Trey has become quite the social butterfly. This kid has no enemies and will smile, wave and blow kisses at anyone that looks his way...

He is very vocal and talks, sings and signs constantly.  He loves making the animal noises, saying "uh-oh" or "oh no!" whenever something drops,  saying "yummm" after every bite, and singing (or yelling) along with familiar songs.  I'd guesstimate that he has between 50-75 words that he uses spontaneously, but will imitate just about anything you say.

He loves to get down.  He dances whenever he hears music and knows the motions to the "Itsy Bitsy Spider."

He has also gotten into climbing-- sofas, chairs, tables, beds... pretty much anywhere you can imagine.  He likes to be a big boy and sit in big boy chairs.  Such a wild man!  Thankfully, he has not yet crawled out of his crib.

He is also obsessed with the dogs.  He follows them everywhere and laughs so hard when they play and lick him.  He loves to chase them around the coffee table and give them biscuits.  He even tells them "no bark!" when they get too rowdy.  :)

Trey is very sweet natured.  He loves giving hugs and kisses to his mom and dad, the dogs, and his favorite toys (i.e. bear and baby).   He rubs your back when you hold him, especially after a nap.
He is all boy.  He loves anything that is loud, moves quickly, or is covered in dirt.  Trucks, balls, tools, swings and slides, lizards.   He is into chasing lizards on the patio and has even caught a few!  Below is a pic of him with his lizard gear.

He's a water boy like his parents.  Swimming in the pool or beach is always a favorite pastime.  His new trick is jumping off the side of the pool.  He also loves the water hose and loves to help mommy and daddy water the plants.

Eating:  Trey eats about every hour to hour and a half... never a lot at one time, but constantly.  He eats a wide variety of food, but mostly loves fruits.  He drinks mostly water and a little juice.  He weaned off his bottle (yes, he was getting an AM and PM bottle until about two weeks ago), but now he is refusing to drink his almond milk at all.  I'm not sure what to do about this.  I offer it to him several times throughout the day, but he is just not interested.

In other, good news, we have started to re-introduce dairy to him!  Our pediatrician gave us the okay to try small amounts of dairy from time to time, to monitor his tolerance.  One day, about 3 weeks ago, I gave him a small piece of muenster cheese.  He loved it, and NO reaction!  So, the next day, I gave him 3-4 pieces.  Still NO reaction!   I've been giving him small amounts of dairy every day and so far, so good.   Knock on wood, but I think he is outgrowing his dairy allergy!

Sleep:  He takes 1-2 naps a day, depending on how tired he's acting.  Sometimes, when he's tired, he will walk to his crib and say "night-night."  Really, he puts himself down for a nap probably 3 times a week!

The really, really good news is that his naps have gotten significantly LONGER.   For whatever reason, about a month ago, he started taking one and a half to two and a half hour afternoon naps!  This is much, much, much better than his old 45 minute power naps routine.  He is so well rested and so happy.  And, so am I!

He's sleeping a little less at night, but still between 11-12 hours a night.  He goes down around 7:30 and wakes up between 6:45 and 7:30, depending on my work schedule.

That's about it.  I'm loving every minute of toddlerhood and can't wait to see how much he grows and learns in the next 6 months!

Invasion of the Sandpearl

Our friends from TX have been staying the week at the Sandpearl.  If you've been following the blog for awhile, you know that I think the Sandpearl is just about the happiest place on earth.  I love it.  It's my Disney.

Anyways, today (Ben and Kerri's last day), we decided to move our Mom's Group Playdate to the Beach so I could spend a little more time with Kerri AND catch a few rays (while letting the kids play, of course).   Well, it turned into mass chaos at the pool.  Thank goodness they weren't busy!

There were about 6 moms + 12 children+ me and Trey + Kerri, her two and Ben + Michelle.  Like I said, pure chaos.

Happy mother's day!

Thanks to all the moms out there who work 24/7, 365. Now that I'm a mom I have a heck of a lot more appreciation for the job. Parenting is a wonderful, joyous blessing, but it's certainly not easy!

I was reminded of that today as I sat up all night and the majority of today rocking a very sick, cranky baby boy, who had a temp of up to 105. Yikes! I took him to a walk in clinic and got him some antibiotics.... Hopefully that does the trick. He had a scary high fever all day (even with tylenol, cold washcloths, and cool baths).

Certainly not the relaxing mother's day I had planned, but that's how life goes. Praying little man turns the corner soon.

Engagements, birthdays and visitors!

Another longer than anticipated blogging hiatus. Sorry, life's been busy. Fun, but busy.

We have celebrated Steve and Brandon's birthdays and are getting ready for my big 3-0 extravaganza in just 2 weeks!

Along with my sister's recent engagement, we also got to take part in our good friend, Steve and Erica's engagement with a surprise party at the beach! They are such a sweet couple. I'm so happy for them!!

We also have enjoyed spending some QT with two of our best friends, ben and kerri, who are visiting from Texas!!

We enjoyed a rare lunch out catching up and an even rarer late night out bar hopping at the beach. And, Trey and i hope to squeeze in a bit of beach time with them before they leave!
