Quiet Day at the Beach

RIP

Today's post is in honor of my friend and co-worker, Edyie, who succumbed to her battle with cancer early this morning after a long, hard fight.  Edyie was a vibrant, strong, hard-working woman who dedicated her life to helping others.   She also provided much comedic relief to stressful situations and was the first one to offer a shoulder when something was wrong.

I feel blessed to have known her.  Although, I know that her passing means she no longer has to suffer, I can't help but feel sad to have lost my friend.  Goodbye, Edyie.  Rest in peace.

Mama's Boy

I've been working (outside the home) a lot in 2013.  My bank account is thanking me, but my almost 14 month old little guy is not!  He is going through some major separation anxiety... and, so am I.  :)

Trey's always been a "mama's boy,"  but this past week was a whole new level.  He was extra needy and clingy when I got home from work.  Although, it could have been related to the 2 new teeth.... he's now up to 8!

I have this week off work to spend some QT with Tman.  And, we have a lot of fun things planned with the mom's group:  beach, play date at Kelly's, park, etc.  We also have our usual library class on Wednesday followed by his 2nd haircut!

Here are a few pics from the past week or so.  Nothing big or exciting, just some playtime around the house.

First gash.  Ran into the wood table outside.  Ouch.

A fruit pouch made it all better.  He loves those things!

He has no interest in tv yet, but LOVES the remote.  Favorite toy in the house....

The remote is also frequently used as a phone.  "Hellooo!!"

WICKED weekend

Wow.  That was the best weekend we've had in a long time!

Friday night was a rare date night with Phil.  We went downtown Tampa, ate at a trendy bar, had a couple of cocktails and then went to see the play Wicked.  I loved-loved-LOVED it!  I've been  looking forward to seeing it since Christmas (it was my present from the hubs), but it was even better than I had expected.  I highly recommend it!

Saturday, we spent a good portion of the day at the park playing and picnicking.  Saturday night, my other husband (the non-straight one) and I had "date" night down at the beach.  We sipped on fruity cocktails and spent HOURS chatting and listening to live music while sitting on a rooftop bar overlooking the beach.  Does life get any better than that?

Sunday, was Phil's day.  He and his friend, Hunter, went with some of Hunters' friends on an all day fishing charter-- Hunter is friends with the captain.  They had planned on going spear fishing and SCUBA diving, but ended up fishing most of the day.  Guess they will have to plan another outing!  Maybe I can tag along and put all of my SCUBA gear to use.  It's been getting pretty dusty in my closet!

Trey and I joined them after their boating excursion at the captains' house (or should I say MANSION) on the beach.  Trey and Phil enjoyed the jacuzzi and took a nice dip in the pool.  And, we sat around and chatted by the fire until I HAD to go... way past Treyman's bedtime; although, he was perfectly content hamming it up and flirting with all of the ladies.  Oh boy, are we in trouble!

I swear, this weekend was perfection.  Now, back to work/reality!
