New Car!!!

I've been online car shopping for quite awhile...  my 2003 Escape just wasn't cuttin' it anymore-- with 2 large dogs, two large people, baby and a stroller it just wasn't big or dependable enough for us.

In general, I tend not to shop around too much.  I know what I like and I get it.  Phil often gives me a hard time about this-- I fall in love with things quickly and then two months later don't really like it and am ready for something else.  So, I completely understand why Phil, after we took one test drive at one dealership, objected when I suggested we make an offer.  But I was done looking.  I had already researched our options online and already found exactly what I wanted.

After I finally convinced Phil that this was the car for us, the negotiations began...and I  a salespersons' dream.  In fact, Phil told me I am never allowed back in a dealership again.  Thankfully, he was a pro negotiator and played some major hard ball. I just tried to keep quiet and put on my poker face. After much back and forth, we ended up getting a brand new 2012 Toyota Highlander!  It's so fancy and I absolutely love it!

8 month Updates

Stats: At Trey's 6 month doctor visit, he was 72.5 cm. long (100+%), and weighed 17 lb. 3 oz. (50%). We won't have another official stat update until his 9 month visit in August.  Every time I look he just looks longer and longer.

Schedule:  Woah... we've had some changes in this department.  Days of three naps are long gone.  We are down to one short morning nap, and one slightly longer afternoon nap.  Solids at 8:30ish, 12ish, and 5ish.  Milk at 7, 10, 1, 4, and right before bed at 7.

Sleep:  For some reason Trey has recently started to fight nap time and sometimes bedtime.  He doesn't want to miss a thing.  I know he has to work it out on his own, but it is so hard to just let him cry. Thankfully, though, once he finally goes down for the night, he always sleeps between 11-13 hrs/night.

Eating:  Pureed veggies, meats, fruits and some SOFT SOLIDS!  We got him some sweet potato puffs that he seems to really enjoy.  He's also had some bites of banana and watermelon.  I can't wait to try some more when he finally gets his teeth (which, btw, have still not come in yet.... I swear he's been working on these bad boys for months).

Play:  I'm eating my words once again-- still no crawling.  He is so close, he just can't seem to figure out what to do with his arms and ends up going backwards.  He is able to get wherever he wants by rolling, scooting, etc.  and seems pretty content doing that for now.  He does enjoy standing activities at the coffee table, etc.
All toys, books, swings, pools, dogs are a big hit.  Lots to do and see.

Speech and Language:   He's babbling, singing, etc.  He's even said "Hi" and "Mama," although I'm not convinced  they were said with any intent.  :)

Baby {Boy} Boom

There must be something in the water--  OU swimming and diving welcomed another beautiful baby boy yesterday!  Welcome Brody Bell!  And congrats to proud mama and papa, Courtney and Aaron!  He is so handsome!

This makes the boy count:
Me-  Trey
Melissa-- Jackson and another boy on the way
Courtney B--  Brody
Carrie-- Conner and another boy on the way
Shannon- Nick
Heather-- Liam and Hayden
Jillian-- Owen
Frasco-- McCartney
Courtney W-- Tucker
Desiree-- Ethan

I feel like I'm forgetting some... not intentionally, if I am...

Love all the blue!  Too bad they took away the OU men's swim team... they could have rocked it like their mama's in about 17-18 years from now!  :)

July is a busy, busy birth month for the M and Z fams.  My brother-in-law, Chad's, was on the 6th, my niece, Allison, turned 2 on the 10th, my mother in law's was on the 13th, and my father-in-law's is on the 16th (which is also the day I will be welcoming my 3rd (still nameless) niece into the world).  So fun!   Oh yeah, honorary family member Nanny Carolyn's is on the 17th, too.

I also have two more friends due in July and can't wait to hear about the births of their little boys, Brody and Will!

Here is Miss Allison on her 2nd birthday!

Mom Z and her college friend, Elaine, were in town for her birthday.  They've been busy with shopping, dining, beaching, etc. I'm thankful we were able to celebrate with her this year!

Here are some phone pics from the week (so far) with Elaine/Louise's Birthday:

Avery's Visit

Legoland.  St. Pete shopping.  Waterfront lunches.  Beach.  Cookouts.  Dolphin sitings on the Skiff.  Visiting Winter the Dolphin at the Clearwater Aquarium.  More beach.  Greek cusine.

Avery, Louise and Mary have been pretty busy the past couple of days! I think Trey is sad to see cousin Avery leave tomorrow....

Trey and Grandma's Day of Fun

Did you catch the Friends reference in the title?  No?  Okay, maybe that was just me.

Anyways, technically, it is more like days of fun.  Friday was pool day and then lunch with Phil, where we found that Trey really enjoys ice cold water from a straw!  He is so funny!

Today we made the rare trip down to St. Pete beach for fresh seafood and a little beach time.  St. Pete is a nice beach, it's just a little further south and not one we normally go to.  Although the water was beautiful, I quickly remembered why we don't venture down there more often:  shells/rocks and PEOPLE everywhere.  Since Trey only lasts an hour or two at the beach anyways, it was fine, but with the little guy (and all his paraphernalia) I think next time we will stick a little closer to home.

Avery and her other grandma are coming in town tonight, so we have several more days of fun coming up... Tomorrow's tenative plan is for Phil to join them at Leggoland!   Trey and I opted out of that one for obvious reasons, but I have a feeling we will be spending some time there in a year or two...

July 4th

Happy Independence Day, America!

Excuse my lack of posts, but we have some very important visitors (aka the grandparents) in town.  We have been way too busy visiting with our visitors to blog.

In fact, we have an entire month filled with visitors.  This means: I will have constant (free) babysitters at my disposal 24/7!!! And I plan on taking full advantage of the extra help.  Pedicure, anyone?  What?  The gym?  It's been so long I barely remember how to get there...  And, heelllloooooo tv shows.  Oh, how I've missed you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still getting plenty of cuddle time in with my little peanut (who, I'm happy to report is feeling much better and back to his smiley self).... but it is certainly nice to have the option to do fun things where I don't have to sing and/or talk in a ridiculous voice.

In the mean time, Trey and I are looking forward to our "day of fun" with Grandma Louise on Friday and a visit from cousin Avery next week!  Lots of fun in our future!  Think lounging in the pool, working on our tans...

Yeah.... what a tough life!  Happy July 4th, all.  Be safe!
