I'm so glad we were able to make the trip up to Buffalo this year.  It was a short trip, but a good one none the less.

Quick weekend recap:

We got in Friday, got settled in the hotel and hung out with my in-laws, brother-in-law and niece.

Saturday was packed, starting with a delicious birthday meal/gifts at Aunt Franny's house, followed by swimming in the hotel pool, and then a baby-free night out on the town.  I'm very thankful we were able to meet up with my friend, Tara, and her husband, Garrison, who is the long snapper for the Buffalo Bills!   I had such a great time seeing family and catching up with my friend!

Sunday was BBQ and pool party at Aunt Laurie and Jame's house!  Great time with a bunch of Z family, including baby Rowan and Trey's great-great Aunties who are getting up in age, but are still the life of the party! We finished off with a big Polish dinner at Polish Villa 2, where I was serenaded with an accordion and Birthday song (in Polish).

We flew out early Monday morning and I was at work by noon.

I have a lot more pictures, but these were some of my favorites!

KY Pics (from April)

Trey's 6 month visit was today, so I updated his stats.  Check here for more!

For my Christmas present, Phil promised to get me family photos.  Instead of doing them in December (when Trey was still so little), I decided to wait a few months.  Our trip to KY seemed like a perfect time since KY is so beautiful in the spring.... little did I know it was going to be FREEZING that weekend!  Oh well, they turned out pretty good despite the weather!   Thank you, Stephanie Lyell!

Here are some of my favs...

I'm going to be playing major picture catch-up over the next few days.  We've been busy with lots of fun here in FL and with Phil's side of the fam up in Buffalo, where we celebrated my 29th bday and Memorial Day!

Here are the pool pics from Joey, as promised....

6 month updates

Happy Half Birthday, little man!

Seriously, where does the time go?  These past 6 months have flown by...

Stats:  At Trey's 6 month doctor visit, the nurse came in and weighed/measured him.  The doctor came in a few minutes later and said, "I think the nurse made an error with his height so I'm going to have to remeasure.  She said he was 72 cm. which places him off the charts."  So, the doctor measured again... sure enough, the nurse was wrong.  Trey was 72 and a half cm!  haha Which, as I said, means he is in the 100th+ percentile for height.  Weight was 17 lb. 3 oz.  (50%).  His poor little head (although getting bigger) is still only in the 15th percentile...

Schedule:   While not every day is exactly alike, a typical day for us goes something like this:

7am--  wakes up and eats (milk)
7:30 - 9am -- play time
9 - 10 am--  nap
10 - 10:30 am-- eats (breakfast solids, usually oatmeal and fruit)
10:30 - 1 pm -- plays outside/swims
1 - 1:30 pm -- eats (milk)
1:30 - 2:30 pm -- nap
2:30 - 3:30 pm --  plays/story time/music
3:30 - 4 pm -- eats (milk)
4 - 4:30 pm-- plays outside/swing
4:30- 5:30 pm-- naps
5:30 - 6 pm-- eats (dinner solids, assorted veggies)
6-7 pm-- walks with daddy and the dogs
7 - 7:30 pm-- bath and eats (milk)
7:30 pm-- BED!

Sleep:  No complaints here.  In fact, I'm quite jealous of this guy's sleeping habits.  He gets 12 hours at night and three 1+ hr naps in the day... Trey sleeps face down, butt up in the air.

Eating:  Trey is LOVIN' the solids.   My mom got me a baby brezza machine, so I've been making my own baby food.  I love it-- so easy-- it steams and blends in one machine.  I just set it and come back 20-30 min later and it's ready to go!  I like to make extra and keep it in the freezer for some quick, easy and healthy meals.

Trey's favorite food so far is CARROTS.  He also is a big fan of broccoli, peas, asparagus, banana and avocado.  Can't get enough of them!  He squeals and bangs his hands on his tray table if I'm not moving fast enough.   I hold the spoon up to his mouth and he lunges into it with his mouth wide open.   It's really cute... and really messy.

Play:  Hands down, Trey's new favorite activity is swimming.  He chases floating toys, blows bubbles, splashes, kicks on his back and giggles.  Wonder where he gets the love of water??

On a side note, we went to the pool this weekend with some friends who got some great pics of Trey swimming.  I will post whenever Joey gets them up on facebook!

Random Ramblings

1.  I mentioned in a previous post that I have been working... a lot.  Waaay more than I would like to be.  I'm hoping this is very temporary situation, as they recently let go a co-worker and are currently trying to fill the full time SLP position.

2.  I have been staying up really late and waking up in the middle of the night to pump (my supply is sadly running out... I mainly blame point 1., but also for the fact that he is eating more at each feeding).   Even though I am very thankful I was able to breastfeed, and hope to continue for a few more months, I truly find this Time magazine cover very disturbing:

I know each parent does things differently, and I really try not to judge other people's parenting styles....  but I think this is going just a little COMPLETELY over the top.  It's time to cut the chord, lady.

3.  I have been waking up extra early to run with my friend, Erica, before work and before Trey wakes up.  Since I want to spend some time with Trey after work, 5 am is the only time I can find to exercise.  And lord knows I won't do it alone.  Erica has to be one of the bubbliest and energetic people I know.  I LOVE having a workout buddy... it's so motivating... but NO ONE should have that much energy at 5 am... this morning I wanted to hurt her...badly. (I'm completly kidding-- well.... I'm kinda kidding).

4.  Between working long hours, fighting traffic, pumping, exercising and taking care of the babe, dogs, hubs and house,  I am truly exhausted.  I mean really, really exhausted.  I've never been a big sleeper.   I can count on one hand the number of naps I've taken in my adult life, all of which were during pregnancy when I felt like death.   I decided to take the day off work today to recharge my battery and clean the house.  I put Trey in his jumperoo and decided to lay down on the couch and watch him play...just for a minute.  I must have PASSED OUT because I woke up an hour and a half later and Trey was still in his jumperoo.  The poor boy must have followed my lead, because he was face planted in his toys... sound asleep.

5.  I hate loathe car salesmen.  And, really, the whole car buying process.  It is overwhelming and terrible.  I wish I could just buy it online and have it delivered like everything else I buy...

6.  Phil is replacing the docks out back with the faux wood.  The kind that is supposedly weather resistant and will last forever.  We shall see... But, I really like the way it looks!

7.  We got a sneak peak at some family photos we had done in KY.  I love them and can't wait to share them with you!

8.  We are contemplating a couples vacation in November with some of our good friends.  Until last year, when I was 9 months pregnant, we took a mini vacation every November.  It is our anniversary and Phil's birthday month, and is the most beautiful weather here in FL.  My MIL has volunteered to babysit Treyman  (and, yes, I am already dreading leaving my baby for a few days).  Now the only question is:  where to go?  We have been weighing some options, but I am heavily leaning towards a 4 day cruise to Mexico (leaving out of the Tampa port).  Mainly because they are cheap and we don't have to fly anywhere.  Anyone have any long weekend get-a-way suggestions?

9.  My DVR is so backed up it's not even funny.  Phil is working all weekend, so cleaning it off is on my to-do list over the next couple of days.  Looking forward to my favs:  Greys, Modern Family, Survivor, Amazing Race, Bachelorette, The Office, Top Chef, Scandal...  I've heard good things about Sister Wives and Justified, but haven't been able to get into either...

There ya go... a whole lot of nothing.  Hope you have a great weekend!

A Mother's Love

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms and mama-to-bes out there.  This holiday has taken on new meaning to me this year as I was blessed with the best, most rewarding experience ever-- becoming a mom.   I am so fortunate to have a wonderful, supportive and beautiful mother, and a generous, kind, and intelligent mother-in-law, who have both taught me how to love and be loved... and all of the other things I hope to pass along to my son.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!  Hope your day was filled with as much appreciation as mine was!

Trey experienced his first trip out on our boat, the Skiff....and, no, we did not sink and end up stranded underneath the causeway (like Phil and his friends did two nights before our wedding).    It was all smooth (and slow) sailing today!

Phil is really looking forward to having a new fishing buddy in a few years.

John Deer Gear

I had my first photography class on Wed. night and finally learned a little about this fancy camera I got for Christmas!

I have just been shooting on "auto" mode, since I had no clue how to use the manual settings.   Most of the time it is okay, but I know pictures could be much better with the right settings.

Today's photo shoot was my first attempt at using manual mode.  Lots of trial and error, but I think I'm starting to figure out...  we were shooting in direct sunlight, and, as I learned, this is NOT ideal lighting... but none the less, it let me practice with different settings...

Today, Trey was rockin' his John Deer gear, courtesy of his "Aunts" Elaine and Rosie!

Daddy's Little Helper

Not too much going on here.  Trey went to his first swim lesson today with Nanny Carolyn.  He had so much fun!   Lessons are Tues/Thurs.  mornings at the Y.  He is the youngest in the class, but just by a couple of months.  I had to work today, so I didn't get to go, but hopefully I will be off next week to take him myself!  :)

In other news, for those friends/family of Kirsten, I have the web address of her blog:  www.kirstenspeeps.blogspot.com

This way you will recieve up to date information on her progress.
