Pintrest

I have a new addiction. Pintrest.

If you aren't familiar with Pintrest, it's basically a website where you can "pin" things you like onto different "boards" and share them with friends. For example, I have a board for: recipes, travel, crafts, holiday decor, baby stuff, fashion, etc. You can see your friends things, and if you like it, you can pin it to one of your boards and share it with other friends.

I've avoided joining it for months and months. After all, the last thing I need is another online social media site to keep up with... but, I gave into the craze and am so glad I did! I have been getting so many fun ideas for crafts and trying out a TON of new recipes!

We had Lemon Garlic Shrimp over Cauliflower Mash tonight and it was delish!

Yesterday, we had these BBQ Chicken Quesadillas with Guacamole and Salsa... which was also really good.

And, tomorrow, I'm planning to make Pork chops and Sauteed Spinach.

My mouth is watering already!  I can't believe how much I've enjoyed cooking during maternity leave.  It's a lot more fun to cook when you actually have time to...  :)

First Date

My first play date...hmm... what ever should I wear?

I know it's a group thing, but I'm really hopin' to meet some cute lady friends...
Maybe I should go shirtless to show off these huge muscles...

Darn.
Mom said "no" to that.
Can you believe it-- two months old and she's already ruining my game???
Oh well, let's try the shirt and tie look.
I hear some women like that.

Man, I look good.  I look really good.
But, I gotta do something with this hair...

Ah, much better.
Now, I'm ready to get my flirt on.
And, if you promise not to tell,
I'll let you in on my little secret...
If you really want the ladies to love on you,
all you have to do is flash 'em one of these...

Works every time.
Guaranteed.

DWIGHT SCHRUTE for President?

I'm not too political, but, as a big fan of The Office, I find this is too funny not to share...

2 month updates

Stats:  Trey is officially growing like a weed!  He is now 12 lb. 3 oz (a whole 5 lbs since birth!), which puts him in the 60th percentile for weight.  He is also 24.5 inches long, which is the 95th percentile!  Looks like he's gonna be tall... go figure.

Schedule:  We are still on an eat every 3 hours during the day schedule--  7, 10, 1, 4, 7, 10.... and then sleep until 7ish am!  He takes a morning nap from about 8:30-10, and an afternoon nap from 4:30-6.   We take a family walk with the dogs every night after his 7 o'clock feeding, which is followed with a bath and playtime until his 10 o'clock feeding... then it's bedtime.

Sleep:  Trey is sleeping through the night (knock on wood)!!!!!!  Phil has been putting him to bed to give me a little break, since I am with him 24/7.  Most nights, Trey sleeps in his rocker, not in his crib.  I know, we should be using the crib more, but for some reason, that rocker just knocks him out... he seems to toss and turn (and cry) in the crib, even though we swaddle him every night.  And, once he's asleep in the rocker, Phil and I are too scared to try and move him because the few times we've tried have been bad.news.bears...

Eating:  He's still nursing only.  With the exception of once during his growth spurt, when I had to supplement with formula, he has never taken a bottle.  Now that I've gotten over the pain phase of nursing, I've come to love it -- such great bonding time!  I'm trying my best to pump after every feeding (or most feedings), so he can continue with breastmilk when I go back to work in just a few more weeks. :(

Play:  Still not much going on here-- eat, sleep, poop, burp, cry.  That's about it. Trey does makes good eye contact and smiles like crazy when he's tickled.  He loves tummy time, but often falls asleep on his belly, which is a no-no is mommy-land.  Back is Best!  Other than that, he's still mostly a blob...  although, I don't think it will last much longer-- he flipped from belly to back for the first time this week (which apparently is pretty advanced, even for a 3 month old)!   He's only done it once, but he tries to move all the time and is getting pretty strong.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot

Trey was lovin' his swing!  We put it up around Christmas when my niece was here, but I didn't think that Trey would be able to use it for a few more months...  but he did, and he loved it!

Swingin' with Dad
Over it.

Photog Phil was supposed to be taking a picture of me and Trey, but he had to get Phelpsie dumping in the picture, too... Kodak moments.

Speaking of Phelpsie....  how sweet are these pictures?

Fur Babies

Since Trey has kinda taken over the blog in recent weeks, I figured it is time to give my two little fur babies a little cyber lovin.'

Don't worry, these two have remained completely spoiled.  And, they both love their big sibling titles.   They are loving, gentle and protective of their little "brother."  I couldn't have asked for a better adjustment to our newest additon.

Trey is 8 weeks old today!  Not quite two months, but almost!  He has his two month doctors' visit next Tuesday and I can't want to see how much he's grown!   Time is going by so fast....

(Belated) New Year's Resolutions

I know, I know... it's a little late for new year's resolutions-- but better late than never, right?  Here are a few I'd like to share.  Hopefully by posting this, I will be held accountable by friends and family (ahem, that would be you...).

1.  Be a good wife, mom, sister, daughter and friend.  I am a HORRIBLE at keeping in touch.  I'm really not much of a phone-caller, texter, emailer, etc.  My best attempt at keeping everyone up to date on my life is through the blog, but that's very one-sided.  I want to know what's going on in your life.  So, expect more phone calls and Skype dates in the future!

2.  Loose the dreaded baby weight.  Right after the baby, before the holidays, I got down to +5 lbs from pre-baby weight.  But thanks to all of the holiday goodies, I'm now closer to +10... or 13.  Whatever.  Darn Christmas cookies!

Which brings be to #3 and #4...

3.  The ever dreaded-- exercise more.  This is one I struggle with the most, which is funny, because I actually like to exercise.  I just feel like I never have time (bad excuse, right?).  I'd rather be hanging out with hubby or friends (and now baby)... basically, I'm just not motivated by myself.   I really haven't consistently worked out since my college swimming days (which ended almost 7 years ago, YIKES!).

I go through fitness spurts, but I'm really hoping to make a lifestyle change in 2012.  Not only is it important for my health, I want to set a good example of an active lifestyle for our son.  I've been pretty motivated so far, but let's hope it continues as the year goes on....

4.  Cook more, eat out less.  Again, a repeat from 2011.  I did a great job sticking to this one last year and hope to keep it up in the new year!  I feel like I've become a much better cook and prepared some pretty yummy meals for my familiy!  If you have some (healthy) recipes, please feel free to send them my way @ becky.mcgaughey@gmail.com

5.  Save money.  Have you seen the cost of college these days?!?  We've always set a (very loose) budget, but with another person and less income coming in, it is more important than ever to cut back our excess spending and put our pennies in the bank....   Extereme couponing, anyone?

6. Keep my house clean (er).  With a baby running around, I would like my house to be as germ-free as possible... although, with my two dogs, I am perfectly okay with settling for "not completely disgusting."

7.  Volunteer more. I grew up volunteering with my church at the HOPE center for the homeless and doing mission work for Habitat for Humanity...   I am completely ashamed at how little I've done to give back to my community in recent years... especially when I know how fortunate I am.  My goal is to do one community service project a month.  If you have any recommendations for organizations, again, feel free to send it my way.
