Best in the Bluegrass

Our little Wildcat was very animated during todays' game (UK vs. the University of Loserville)...

Pre-game nap

Getting excited for the big game... GO BIG BLUE!

Worried about all those turnovers....

Very upset about Louisville's 17-5 run to end the 1st half...or his lack of lunch.  Whatever.

Serious-- ready to start the 2nd half

Exhausted from all that cheering...  Way to go CATS!  Another year as Best in the Bluegrass!

Trey and I met up with the Waltz clan for our first trip to the zoo!  Tampa has one of the best zoo's in the nation and I'm sure we will be back many times as he gets a little older.

He was such a good boy today-- we were there for about 4 and a half hours and not a peep from him the entire time.  He slept for most of the trip, but was wide awake for the "safari" animals and chimps!

Surprise Visitors!

I got a call yesterday from my Uncle Bob, who lives in KY, saying he was 100 miles outside of Tampa!  He decided (on a whim) to hop in the car and drive his family down to Florida for the week.  Talk about family road trip!

They are primarily wanting to go to the theme parks in Orlando, but decided to first swing by Tampa and get a day/night of beach... and, of course, to meet baby Trey.

Let's not forget my to show my fur babies....  Locthe...

And Phelps!

Trey was so sleepy after all the visitors he fell right to sleep on Dad's chest

Month Check-Up

Let me start by saying--  I am completely obsessed with my son (if you can't tell).  I have taken about 10 million pictures during his first 5 weeks of life.  And, since the majority of our friends/family are out of town, I love being able to share him with you through our blog.

Trey is such a good daytime sleeper I feel like I have a ton of time to get stuff done during the day.  I do not expect to have this much time when I go back to work (or when Trey is more mobile), so don't get too used to frequent blog posts.  But, for now, I'm trying to update as much as possible... while I still can!

Trey had his 4 week check-up today (although he is technically 5 weeks old).  He is up to 9 lb. 9  oz. (50th percentile), 22.5 inches long (80th percentile) and doing great!  He is so cute and smiley!

Eating:  The week before Christmas, Trey went through a little growth spurt.  He was hungry all the time.  I was nursing him almost every. single. hour.  OUCH.  Plus, I wasn't producing enough milk to meet his needs... so when he was awake, he was super fussy.  One night (after several completely sleepless nights), I gave in and had Phil take a nighttime feeding with formula so I could sleep and catch up on my supply.  Trey sucked down about 4 oz. of Enfamil and then fell right to sleep.  Hallelujah!  Now, that growth spurt is over and we are back to our normal nursing routine-- once every 3 hours in the day and as long as he can go at night (which has been about every 4 hours).

Sleep:  This is the area of most improvement!  He is finally starting to get figure days/night out.  He is still a good sleeper during the day and is now going longer stretches at night.  One night he slept almost 7 consecutive hours!  When I woke up, I panicked and had to run in and check on him to make sure he was still breathing... which, thankfully, he was.  Trey still likes to be held during sleep, so much of his night sleep is spent cuddling with his mama.  But, he has been sleeping in his crib a lot, too.

Play:  Still nothing yet.  Phil can't wait for him to "start doing something."  This is coming from the guy who asked, "When can I take Trey out on the Skiff (our boat)?" about 20 minutes after birth.

Overall, GREAT check-up.  Next month is a big one-- SHOTS.  :(

Trey's First Christmas

Phil and I must have been pretty good this year...  we had some pretty fabulous Christmas celebrations with friends and family!  We were blessed with many, many wonderful gifts from our parents and siblings and are so thankful for everything that we have received.

And, no, we didn't do anything special for Trey's first Christmas.  Bad parents?  Maybe.  But we decided that he is too young to remember anything, so we would save our money and forego spoiling him completly rotten...this year.  Plus, there is nothing we really need for him at this time.  We do plan on opening a savings account for him at the start of the new year with some of the Christmas money we received... and, that is the best gift we could give him.

Since we celebrated early with both sides of the family, we had a super low key holiday at home--  just the three of us.  Phil went fishing in the morning and then we all went over to the Waltzs' house for a big meal.

While there, I practiced taking some pictures of their adorable kids with my new AWESOME camera, a Cannon Rebel!  A fancy camera is the perfect gift for any new mom... I just need some practice figuring out all of the settings.  :)

Family Photos

It's not as easy as it looks to get 7 adults, a toddler and an infant captured on film....
