We have had a couple weeks of uncertainty about our future. Phil was up for a promotion with his company and we were told to be prepared to move in the next 6 months or so.
He was first offered the full-time GM position in Orlando, which he declined because of the long commute from Tampa and the amount of time he would have to spend away from home. And neither of us were interested to relocating to Orlando, the "happiest place on earth."
A few weeks later, his company offered him ANOTHER advancement opportunity for an awesome hotel in Jacksonville. But, that meant trying to sell our house, move, etc. with two large dogs. We are also fairly confident that we would have to take a MAJOR financial hit by trying to sell our house in the current real estate market, and the promotion would no where near cover our loss. Therefore, Phil thoughtfully declined his 2nd promotion.
Since we decided it was our best option to try and stay in Tampa for the next few years, Phil realized that he would have to leave his current company (which he loves) and find a new hotel. And, he did! As of Monday, Phil will be starting his new job, as GENERAL MANAGER of a Spring Hill!!!
And, his old co-workers have been so sweet. They threw him a "surprise" going away party last night at the Green Iguana (a local bar) and spoiled him with gifts. I was feeling pretty good, so I decided to stop by and say "bye" to everyone.... an hour later, feeling not-so-good, I made a quick trip to the bathroom and decided it was time to go home. I may be the only sober person to have ever thrown up in that bathroom... but Phil had a great night with his friends at the Embassy!
