Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is here!!!

Phil and I have a lot to be thankful for this year.  There was a "30 day blog challenge" going around where you are supposed to post something everyday in the month of November that you are thankful for.  I knew I would not have time to participate in this year, so instead I'm combining all 30 into 1 post...

I am thankful for (in no particular order):

1.  Good health.
2.  Our families, and getting to spend some QT with them this holiday season.
3.  Having a JOB (as much as I sometimes hate working, I am very thankful for a steady income...)
4.  The roof over our heads, even though ours is still leaking...
5.  For not one, but two HD cable televisions with DVR capabilities.
6.  UK basketball
7.  Our dogs.  Yes, they are sometimes bad, but they are still the best companions after a long day.  They never judge and give unconditional love.  No wonder they are "man's best friend."
8.  My handy husband, who is constantly fixing things around our old house.
9.  The U.S. military, who fights everyday to protect our freedom.
10.  My two beautiful nieces.
11.  Vacation.
12.  Airplanes, and the fact that they can take me anywhere I want/need to go.
13.  Skype.  It helps me stay connected with relatives that live far in Africa.
14.  The Ocean and beach.  Pretty much my favorite thing ever.  I'm so blessed that I live someplace where I can enjoy it as often as I choose.
15.  Photographs.  They help document "the nights I can't remember with the friends I'll never forget."
16.  The mild Florida winters and being able to wear flip flops year round.
17.  The sound of laughter.
18. Our security system, our dogs, and the cop that lives down the street.  They make me feel safe on the nights when Phil has to work late and I'm home alone.
19.  Chillis' Happy hour. 1/2 price drinks and free endless chips and salsa.... this also makes me thankful for taxi drivers who keep people who have gotten a little too "happy" safe on their way home.
20.  Hot food on a cold night.  Especially when it's food I didn't have to cook!
21.  My fabulous friends- near and far.
22.  Sales!  Nothing better than saving a few hard earn dollars.
23.  Spending time with my favorite girls.  Girls' Night Out and sister slumber parties are the BEST.
24.  Disney movies.  You are never too old to enjoy these...
25.  The Bluegrass state-  horse farms, rolling hills, Keeneland.  B-E-A-UTIFUL.
26.  The very rare "lazy" Saturday with Phil and the dogs.
27.  The smell of fresh flowers and baking cookies.  Not necessarily together.
28.  The memories I have of my Grandma, who passed away in April.
29.  Pier One, Crate and Barrel, Home Depot and Lowes.  They have helped turn our house into our home.
30.  The many adventures/obstacles Phil and I will face in the upcoming year.

I really feel like I could go on forever, but I won't.  Instead, please take a moment today and give thanks for all of the blessings in your life.  And, be sure to eat LOTS of turkey.  :)

Busy, Busy

Ten days since my last post! Wow, I'm slacking!  I'm sure all 5 of my followers are greatly disappointed ;)
Anyways, the REASON I've been slacking is because we have/are having out of town guests for the Thanksgiving holiday!

This past weekend,  my parents came down from KY.  And, they DROVE (that's a nice13 + hours in the car...).  They brought me all kind of goodies I left at home when I moved out 3 + years ago- fun stuff, like scrapbooks and pictures and a few things I picked out from my Grandma's place.  I loved looking at some of these old pictures-- there was some GREAT blackmail in those boxes!!!

Phil's brother, Tad, also came into town on Friday.  He met up with some of his college buddies for the Pitt vs. USF football game (which Pitt won!).

We crammed so much into the weekend I'm tired just thinking about it.  I won't bore you with details, but the highlight for me was spending the day up in Crystal River swimming with the manatees!  Phil and I did this once before and loved it so much we had to do it again!

Weather in November is kinda unpredictible, so I planned for the worst.  I packed a wetsuit, and I'm certainly glad I had it!  Although the air was warm, the water was... chilly.   Thanks to my wetsuit, I was pretty comfortable but everyone else just had to suffer.  ;)  Anyway, everyone survived.  Unfortunately, we did not have many close encounters with the manatee like the last time.  But, we did see probably 2 dozen of them from the pontoon boat!  We even saw mama and her calf.  So sweet!

Another highlight was definitely shopping at the outlet mall outside Sarasota.  I got 90% of my Christmas shopping done, which is SUCH a stress reliever!  I really, really hate waiting until the last minute....

We ended their weekend trip with a nice sushi dinner!  We had 3 sushi virgins at our table, all a little hesitant about the whole raw fish thing.  We tried a lot of different rolls, mostly all cooked or fried, but glad to see they are taking baby steps... and, I think they were all pretty satisfied with the meal.

Anyways, we have another busy week here.  Tad is still in town and the rest of Phil's family is flying in on Thanksgiving.  The only thing I'm not looking forward to is saying a real "goodbye" to our good friend's Ben and Kerri, who will be leaving us for good on Saturday...

A few DAYS after the shower, Maria Alexis made her arrival!!!  Big congrats to Anna and Gilbert!

Happy Birth Day, Conner!

Nov. 2nd was a big day!  And not just because it is our anniversary... one of my college classmates, Carrie, and her husband, Steven also welcomed a baby boy into this world on this day.  So, best wishes and congrats to the Stanley clan.

Year Two

Sooo.... many of you know yesterday was our 2nd anniversary!  YAY! Can't believe I've been Mrs. Zawadzki for two years.  Where does the time go???

And, how did we celebrate?

Good question.

Like any happily married couple: we did NOTHING together.  We hardly even spoke!

HA HA just kidding.

But seriously, I only saw him for about 5 minutes at 5 am.  No, not because we were mad at each other, but just because of timing.  The VIPs/owner's of Phil's company checked into the hotel on Monday, which basically means I won't see my husband again until they leave.  Everything has to be perfect when they come into town and since Phil is assistant general manager, lots of the responsibility is on his shoulders.  Which helps explain his 16+ hr work days ALL week (yes, including yesterday).

Although I didn't get much face time, I did wake up to a beautiful boquet of flowers and sweet card.  There was also a nice bottle of champagne sitting in the fridge... So, now I'm just waiting for the big-wigs to get out of Tampa so we can celebrate year two for real...

My Pretty Little Butterfly

Since I was so close to home, I couldn't pass by an opportunity to visit with my sweet niece.  So, Megan and I met up with our families for a little "reunion" dinner in Louisville.  Megan's family is practically my family, too- considering we spent every waking moment of high school at each others' houses....  so it's very important for me to see them, as well as my own.

But the highlight (as always) was seeing my little chunky monkey!  Miss Allison!  In her first Halloween costume, a pretty little butterfly!

And, we had two surprise guests at our reunion- Wildcat Aquatics alums, Shelby and Mary!!  Brought back so many wonderful high school memories.  Oh how time flies by....

Crying?! There's no crying in baseball!!  --Jimmy Dugan

Megan's co-worker hosted us for a Halloween house party on Saturday night and we had a blast!  There is just something about wearing a costume in public that screams "good times."  Reminded me a lot about the good old days in Athens... minus the 20,000 people and cops on horseback.

Anyways, we really waited until the last minute to choose our costumes.  There were 3 of us girls going together and we just couldn't decide between two costume ideas: the Kardashians or the Rockford Peaches.  We obviously opted for the latter....

Here are a few of the 10,000 pictures of the night...

Halloween is offically over, so NOW we can start thinkin' about THANKSGIVING!!!!

A Taste Of Fall

I was in Indianapolis this weekend visiting my best friend, Megan. We spent a few hours on Sunday at an apple orchard in the country and it was GORGEOUS! Megan says I missed the pretty leaves by about two weeks, but I disagree.  They were just right!

We walked around for a bit and then decided we should have a totally cheesy photo shoot. The goofy "artsy" kind I can only get away with when only the girls are around.

Please don't judge me based on our "glamour shots" - they were just for fun. ;)
