Baby Briar

I found out several months ago that my old high school bf, Brandon, and his wife, Brooke, were expecting a baby boy, Briar.  Such happy news for such wonderful people!  They recently posted some adorable pregnancy pictures taken by their photographer friend, Jessica Flynn.

Well, the reason I am sharing this is becase I would like you to keep them all in your prayers today and over the next several weeks.

Early into the pregnancy, Briar was diagnosed with Anencephaly, a congenital birth defect that occurs in approximately one in one thousand pregnancies. It is a neural tube defect, where the baby is unable to sustain life outside of the mother's womb. Life expectancy for a baby with anencephaly is just a few hours after birth...a few days at most.

Since finding out this tragic news, I have been following Brooke's blog and have been truly amazed at her (and Brandon's) strength during this stressful and emotional time.  They have remained very positive and upbeat under extrememly difficult conditions.

Baby Briar entered the world and passed shortly after, on his mother's birthday.

Please bless and pray for my friend, Brandon, and for his wife, Brooke, as they celebrate the birth of their beautiful baby boy, and mourn his passing...
